JD PRODUCTION
Set of four limestone fragments depicting stylized faces.
Medieval origin.
Probably originating from an architectural decorative program (such as modillions, cornices, or archivolts).
The naïve and schematic treatment of the features, along with the pronounced erosion, suggests a medieval origin, likely between the 12th and 14th centuries.
Traces of old reddish-brown polychromy are visible on the surface, the stone shows erosion, old breaks, losses, and an original patina consistent with long-term outdoor exposure.
Each face is mounted on a modern metal stand for display.
