Stone column base carved on all faces, featuring a richly ornamental decoration of arabesques and geometric motifs in relief. The lower registers display a structured composition of interlaced forms and stylised rosettes, while the upper section is emphasised by a gadrooned moulding forming a rhythmically fluted band.
The carving, executed with precision, plays on the depth of the relief and the contrast between flat surfaces and projecting motifs. The decorative arrangement, both geometric and vegetal, suggests an ornamental vocabulary of Oriental or Mediterranean influence, frequently encountered in the decorative architecture of the early modern period.
This type of architectural element, intended to support a column shaft or to articulate a decorative ensemble, may have belonged to a high-quality civil or religious building, where sculpture played a central role in the aesthetic expression of the architecture.
