Stone wall capital carved on three sides, featuring a rich ornamental decoration composed of volutes, stylised foliage and a bird finely integrated into the composition. The lateral scrolls frame the central motif and lend the piece a harmonious decorative balance, characteristic of medieval sculptural vocabulary.
The carving, executed in relief, reveals expressive craftsmanship in which the stylised vegetal forms interact with the symbolic presence of the bird, a motif frequently found in Romanesque and early Gothic ornamentation. The volumes are bold, the lines fluid, and the natural erosion of the stone enhances the authenticity and age of the piece.
Designed to be set against a wall, this capital likely belonged to a religious building or prestigious architectural setting, where sculpted ornament played a significant symbolic and spiritual role within the space.
12th–13th Century.
